Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language to Ethnic Minority Students

In March 2013, Unison held the Conference on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language to Ethnic Minority Students. Scholars, teachers, members of the Legislative Council, the Executive Council and the Equal Opportunities Commission and an official from the Education Bureau discussed how to implement a “Chinese as a Second Language” policy, including how to address the specific needs of non-Chinese speaking students when designing teaching materials, how to set a suitable assessment mechanism, whether the current policy is racially discriminatory, etc.
