International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed annually on 21st March (so-called 3-21). Proclaimed by the General Assembly since 1966, all international communities were called on to put extra efforts on promoting the message related to racial discrimination.

Since Sep 2004, the Education Bureau (EDB) adopted a new arrangement for the education of ethnic minority children. Under the new policy, these children could opt to study in mainstream primary school that help them integrate into the community earlier.

Associate Degree Programme in Social Work

Under Unison's advocacy efforts, two ethnic minority youths were admitted to the Associate Degree Programme in Social Work in 2010/11 after their Chinese language admissions requirements were waived. These students will hopefully become the first batch of ethnic minority social workers in Hong Kong.

Between the handover in 1997 and 2011, the Hong Kong civil service did not hire any ethnic minority new recruits (under pressure from Unison, the Police Force employed the first ethnic minority new recruit in early 2012).

Inquest is not a place of Getting Justice for Victim of Gun-shot Case

On 17 Mar, 2009, a Napalese man, Limbu Dil Bahadur was shot dead by a police constable Hui Ka Ki who was responding alone to call-out on a hillside in Ho Man Tin during an identity check.
